Mr. Clifford Berry Johnson Sr. - STATESBORO - Mr. Clifford Berry Johnson Sr., resident of Statesboro, GA, passed away at the age of 82 at Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient facility on July 28, 2012. Mr. Johnson was born on July 25, 1930 in Garfield, GA. He retired from the Iron Workers Local 709 of Savannah and prior to that he worked for Union Camp (now International Paper) in Savannah. He was dearly loved by his family, neighbors and friends. He was a member of Eastern Heights Baptist Church where he was a member of the Jeff Owens Sunday School Class. He is preceded in death by his father, Berry Watson Johnson; mother, Olive Mae Meade Johnson; step mother, Lucinda Procter Johnson; brother, Leo Palmer Johnson; brother, Frank Purcell Johnson; sister, Velmer Mae Johnson Miller; sister, Sarah Anne Johnson Mclean; and brother, Gordon Ray Johnson. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Frances Hinson Johnson; two daughters, Sandra K Johnson and Brenda J Clemmons; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Clifford B Johnson Jr. and Kirk and Patti J. Johnson ; brother, Bobby L Top Johnson; two granddaughters and their husbands, Tiffany L. and Travis Smith and Jessi C. and Edward Hitt ; two grandsons, Tyler D Johnson and Chad E Johnson; two great grandsons, Cayden T. Hitt and Carson B. Hitt and a special nephew and his wife, Tony and JoElla Hinson and by numerous other nieces and nephews, residing across GA, AL, and FL. The family will receive visitors Tuesday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro. Funeral services will be Wednesday August 1st, 2012, at 11:00am at Eastern Heights Baptist Church with Dr. Harry Sherrer officiating, assisted by Rev. Tom Alderman. The body will lie-in-state one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Elam Baptist Church Cemetery, on Highway 121 in Millen, GA (Jenkins County). Pallbearers will be Travis Smith, Darrel West, Jack Todd, Jerry Fordham, Harvey Brannen and Len McCook. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Jeff Owens Sunday School Class.
