Clara Sledge Anderson, age 75, of Florence, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at her home after an extended illness.Mrs. Anderson was born in Tuscumbia, Ala., and graduated from Deshler High School. She worked at Conner's Camera Shop as a sales associate in downtown Sheffield for several years before moving to Kokomo, Ind., where she resided for 35 years. She moved back to the Florence area four years ago to be closer to her family. Mrs. Anderson was a member of the Baptist church in Kokomo, Ind.Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. today at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will be today at 4 p.m. at Greenview Memorial Chapel, with burial to follow in Greenview Memorial Park. Officiating at the service will be John Henry.Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her husband, Donald W. Anderson; her father, Thomas Grady Sledge; brother, Billy G. Sledge; and a sister, Ruby S. Stovall.She is survived by her mother, Mammie Hand Sledge of Tuscumbia; son, Donald D. Anderson of Angola, Ind.; two daughters, Elaine White and husband, Randy, of Florence, Elora Aday and husband, Marshall, of Florence; three brothers, Grady E. Sledge of Killen, Ervin P. Sledge and wife, Peggy, of Cherokee, Ala., Thomas W. Sledge and wife, Mary, of Choctaw, Okla.; and sister-in-law, Nancy Sledge; six grandchildren, Jackie Berryman, Scott Crowden, Brandon White, Marchelle Williams, Gina Sharpton and Sebrina Pruitt; four great-grandchildren, Jeffrey and Ashton Williams and Savannah and Sierra Pruitt.Pallbearers will be Jimmy Byrd, Sam Aday, Doug Sledge, Jeff Mock, Tommy Sledge and Charles Sledge.Greenview Funeral Home of Florence is directing.
