Obituary of Clara-M. -Thompson Carter


CARTER Clara M. Thompson Carter passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 after an extended illness. She was born in Minnesota to Bernt and Ruby Thompson in 1927 and was a resident of Jacksonville and an active member of Faith Lutheran Church since the early 1950's. Mrs. Carter was a homemaker, but a mother first who always gave of herself to family and friends. Besides enjoying family activities, her hobbies were bowling, quilting, sewing, and painting. She is survived by her children Lois Carter Deakyne of St. Petersburg, Merlin (Mely) Carter, Wayne Carter, Linda Walter, and Elaine (Gordon) Hoppe all of Jacksonville, along with six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Surviving brothers are Tom Thompson and Don Thompson of Minnesota. Surviving sisters include Helen Rodi, Bernice Rodi, Mabel Gronseth, Gladys Stai, and Betty Mae Nordby all of Minnesota. Family will receive friends from 10-11 AM Monday, October 5, 2009 at Faith Lutheran Church (5927 Old Timuquana Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32210) with funeral services immediately following with Pastor Dan Kilts officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service at Riverside Memorial Park. Arrangements by Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida 32205.
