BENNINGTON - Claire Marie Casey, 88, formerly of Hamden, Conn., died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. She was born in Bennington, the daughter of Gedeon and Hazel (LaFlamme) LaCroix. She graduated from Bennington High School and St. Luke's School of Nursing in Pittsfield, Mass., becoming a registered nurse in 1947, and later received both a bachelor's and master's degree at Southern Connecticut University. Also in 1947, she married Daniel Casey of Albany, N.Y. Mrs. Casey taught at Hamden High School for over 20 years. In retirement, she and her husband spent summers at their Woodford camp. Survivors include three siblings, Gedeon LaCroix of Arlington, Dolores Chapman of Raleigh, N.C., and Elaine Sacheau of Araphoe, N.C., nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband May 20, 2004. The celebration of her life will be held at a later date to be announced. Arrangements are under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
