Christine Ruth Miller, 66, died Sept. 26, 2010, from her battle with pancreatic cancer. The funeral will be conducted at the Christ Church, small chapel, located at 120 E. Edenton St. Raleigh, N.C., at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 30. Please come join the celebration of Chris' life. The family will receive visitors at Bright Funeral Home, located at 405 S. Main St., Wake Forest, N.C. from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010. www.brightfunerals.com Chris lived in Wake Forest, N.C., with her husband, Norman Miller. Chris was born in Providence, R.I., and grew up in Westwood, N.J. Her parents, Olive H. Carlen and A. Leonard Carlen, ran a Scandinavian giftware import business in northern New Jersey. She graduated from Westwood High School in 1961, where she was involved in many activities, including serving as the first president of the Honorary Service Society. Chris went on to get her B.S. in nursing from the University of Rhode Island in 1965. After college, she moved across the country to Los Angeles for a nursing course and ended up staying in Los Angeles for several years at a nursing job at USC. While there, she met her husband, Norm, and they had two daughters whom they raised primarily in the San Jose, Calif. area. Throughout her life, Chris loved to travel - from the time when she was 5 years old and lived in Sweden with her parents to her travels to the Caribbean with her friends before getting married and her one last trip to Hawaii last year with her family. Her strength, compassion and generosity will be missed. Chris is survived by her husband, Norm; her two daughters, Stephanie Entwistle, who lives in Marana, Ariz., and Suzanne Miller, who lives in San Francisco, Calif., and her two granddaughters, Veronica and Vanessa Entwistle.
