Christine Phillips Smith, 85, of 113 Laurelwood Circle, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. A native of Oconee County, she was a daughter of the late George Paul and Elizabeth Miller Phillips. Survivors: Husband, Robert L. Smith Sr., of the home; a son, Robert L. Smith Jr. and Mary-Wade O'Kelley Smith, of Kings Mountain, N.C.; two daughters, Robbie Smith Shelby, Katie Smith Wofford and Johnny G. Wofford, all of Spartanburg; grandchildren, Robert L. Smith III, Lisa Toms Smith, McLendon "Wendy" Smith Winstead, Michael L. Winstead, O'Kelley Smith Broadway, James J. Selby, John G. Wofford Jr., Penny Correll Wofford, Christy Wofford Mahaffey and Kevin W. Mahaffey; six great-grandchildren; and brothers, George A. and Marvin W. Phillips.
