MILLER, Christine (nee MacLean) February 19, 1920 September 26, 2006 Christine passed away at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital, Saanich, B.C. following a brief illness with cancer. Born in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, she moved to Alberta with her family in 1927. She is survived by sister, Sarah Florence Dow; brother and sister-in-law, Angus Ronald and Dorothy MacLean; sister-in-law, Kathleen MacLean; fifteen nieces and nephews and their children. Chris was predeceased by her sister Margaret and brothers Donald and Neil and brother-in-law Walter Dow. She graduated from the Misericordia Hospital as a R.N. in 1947. A faithful attendant of her graduation anniversaries, she was in Edmonton in 2004 to celebrate their 60th year. Christine enjoyed working for two years as a nurse in Providence, Rhode Island and relaxing at the ocean haven of her Aunt and Uncle. She furthered her education by obtaining her psychiatric nursing designation from Ponoka Hospital, Ponoka, Alberta and worked at the Essondale Psychiatric Facility, Coquitlam, B.C. She later changed career paths to work for the Department of Child Welfare, Alberta Provincial Government in Edmonton, Calgary and Lethbridge. Cold Edmonton winters and the opportunity of a hospital administration position lured Christine to San Diego, California where she lived for 20 years. Upon retirement, Christine moved to Victoria, British Columbia, eventually coming to live at Summergate Village, Sidney, British Columbia where she enjoyed the companionship and sociability of the village. Chris' family wish to express their sincere thanks and appreciation for the kindness and loyalty of friends from Summergate Village and Saanich Peninsula Presbyterian Church while she was hospitalized. Also, to say thank you to the staff of Saanich Peninsula Hospital for their kindness and tender care and the Royal Jubilee Hospital for their valued assistance. Memorial Service will be held at First Memorial Funeral Services, 4725 Falaise Drive commencing at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 2, 2006. Reception to follow.
