Christine Miller, born in 1920, died on September 26, 2006. Please consult the obituary here:
MILLER, Christine (nee MacLean) February 19, 1920 - September 26, 2006 Christine passed away at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital, Saanich, B.C. following a brief illness with cancer. Born in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, she moved to Alberta with her family in 1927. She is survived by sister, Florence Dow; brother and sister-in-law, Angus and Dorothy MacLean; sister-in-law, Kathleen MacLean; fifteen nieces and nephews and their children. Chris was predeceased by her sister Margaret and brothers Donald and Neil and brother-in-law Walter Dow. She graduated from the Misericordia Hospital as a R.N. in 1947. A faithful attendant of her graduation anniversaries, she was in Edmonton in 2004 to celebrate their 60th year. She furthered her education by obtaining her psychiatric nursing designation from Ponoka Hospital, Ponoka, Alberta and worked at the Essondale Psychiatric Facility, Coquitlam, B.C. She later changed career paths to work for the Department of Child Welfare, Alberta Provincial Government in Edmonton, Calgary and Lethbridge. Cold Edmonton winters and the opportunity of a hospital administration position lured Christine to move to San Diego, California where she lived for 20 years. Upon retirement, Christine moved to Victoria, British Columbia, eventually coming to live at Summergate Village, Sidney, British Columbia. Chris' family wish to express their sincere appreciation for the kindness of friends from Summergate Village and Saanich Peninsula Presbyterian Church while she was hospitalized. Also, to say thank you to the staff of Saanich Peninsula Hospital for their kindness and tender care and to the Royal Jubilee Hospital for their valued assistance. Memorial Service will be held at First Memorial Funeral Services, 4725 Falaise Drive commencing at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 2, 2006. Reception to follow. Friends who so desire may make memorial donations to the CNIB, 100 - 5055 Joyce Street, Vancouver, B.C. V5R 6B2
