CLARK, CHRISTINE HIERS, 87 Gainesville - Clark, Christine Hiers, age 87 of Forest Grove and Gainesville, born March 20, 1919, died Thursday, January 4, 2007 in Gainesville. Mrs. Clark attended Georgia State Women's College in Valdosta, GA and earned a Masters degree at the University of Florida. In her early career Mrs. Clark was a second grade teacher at High Springs Elementary School, later she served as Principal at Sidney Lanier Elementary School and at Littlewood Elementary School. An avid reader of books, Mrs. Clark made time to be a very active church member, was a past president of the First Presbyterian Women of the Presbytery of St. Augustine, a member of The Women's Club of High Springs, The Cattleman's Association, the D.A.R., and The Hibiscus Circle of the Gainesville Garden Club. Mrs. Clark will be remembered most of all as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs. Clark is survived by her daughters, Mary Lynne (Gary) Ridgdill of Gainesville, Linda (Henry) Raattama of Miami, a son, Fred B. (Dana) Clark of Alachua, sisters, Margaret Hiers Moss of Orlando and Doris Hiers Moss of Naples, a brother, Ernest Hiers of Jacksonville, grandchildren, Dexter Ridgdill, Kristina Raattama Izzo and Kemi Raattama Edwards and a great grandchild, Anthony James Izzo, Ill. A visitation for Mrs. Clark will be Monday, January 8th from 4 to 6 PM, at Milan Funeral Home, 311 South Main Street, Gainesville. Services for Mrs. Clark will be Tuesday, January 9th, at 11 am at the First Presbyterian Church of Alachua, the Rev. Dr. Don McGarity will preside. In lieu of flowers Mrs. Clark's family requests donations be made to The First Presbyterian Church of Alachua Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 308, Alachua, FL, 32616.
