Chester B. Smith, 85, Port Charlotte, died Oct. 4, 2005. He was born July 17, 1920, in Woonsocket, R.I., and retired to Florida in 1982. He was an architect and a tool designer. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Port Charlotte. Survivors include his wife, Mary "Gretta"; a daughter, Dawn Gallagher of Port Charlotte; a sister, Lorraine Dogan of Sarasota; a brother, Stanley Smith of North Carolina; and two grandchildren.
