CHARLOTTE M. WHITTAKER OWEGO - Charlotte Mary Fogle Whittaker, age 89, passed away peacefully at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, June 8th, 2008. Charlotte was born June 22, 1918 in Newark Valley, the daughter of Lee and Mildred Settle Fogle. Her parents; her brother, Donald; and a nephew, Raymond, predeceased her. Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Riley Scranton Whittaker; sons, Donald (Barbara) of Leesburg, Florida, Robert (Diana) of Brooktondale, and Dennis of Owego; sisters-in-law, Beverley Keane, of Canastota and Maxine Fogle of Owego; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Charlotte was a devoted homemaker, avid golfer, and longtime member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Speedsville. A graveside service with family and friends will take place Wednesday, June 11th, in Berkshire Evergreen Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. A special note of thanks to the staff of Alterra for all the loving care both Charlotte and Riley have received over the last few years. In lieu of flowers, please remember Charlotte with memorials to Hospice Care of Tompkins County, 172 East King Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850. Caring assistance is being provided by the MacPherson Funeral Home of Newark Valley.
