She married Delbert Willard Cooper in Gardiner on July 3, 1942. Together they built their home in Farmingdale in 1946 when her husband returned from service in the European Theater in World War II. During her husband's service, she studied and became an accomplished beautician and operated Charlotte's Beauty Shop from her Farmingdale home for more than 40 years. She was one of the earliest ski enthusiasts in the state of Maine, skiing at Sugarloaf Mountain from the early 1950s until well into her 60s. Her love of fun and adventure was shown best with her many friends at "the Loaf." Her extraordinary generosity, spirit and wit will be missed by all who knew her.She was predeceased by her three siblings, Frederick Roderick, Marguerite Dionne and Francis Welch. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Delbert W. Cooper; her two sons, Delbert W. Cooper Jr. and his wife, Marcia, of Winthrop, and Michael D. Cooper and his wife, Paula, of Gorham. She leaves four adored grandchildren, Robert Cooper and Kimberly Blanchard of Winthrop, Sarah Cooper of Santa Clara, Calif., and Daniel Cooper of Laurel, Md.; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.A private celebration of her life by her family will be held at the Maine Veterans Cemetery Chapel. Always selfless and generous in life, she had asked that her friends and relatives make donations to their favorite charities in lieu of flowers, and that each of them honor her memory by living each day to the fullest as did she.
