Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Collier-Butler Chapel for Mr. Charlie K. Williams, 79, Albertville, who passed away Sunday, July 31, 2011. The Rev. Leon Hunter will officiate with burial at Conn Cemetery, Gallant. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services directing.Mr. Williams was an eight-year U.S. Navy veteran serving two tours of duty in the 1950s. He served from 1953 until 1961, and during this time he sailed on the USS Essex, serving in Japan and the Philippines. He was a member and elder bishop of the Living God Church and was an evangelist for many years. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his wife, Hannah Williams.Survivors include his children, Deborah (Jerry) Vaughn, Elaine (Paul) Kline, Charlene (Lester) Thacker, Sandra (James) Johnson, Kenneth Williams Jr., Joseph (Linda) Williams, Christian "Christy" Williams, Lynne Williams and John Williams; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, John Williams, Wiley Williams and David Williams; sisters, Sybil Richards, Shirley Snyder, Leona Strickland and Judy Perry; special friends, Nellie Jo Williams and Bo Maxwell; his canine companion who was his baby, "Bandit;" and several nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be Jerry Wayne Vaughn Jr., George Lester Thacker Jr., Wade Thacker, Jeffery Thacker, G.L.
