Obituary of Charles-W. Hanley


HANLEY Charles W. Hanley, died peacefully at Community Hospice of Northeast Florida on March 22, 2004. He was born on August 29, 1943 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He graduated from Wentworth Military Academy in 1961. He attended the University of Missouri where he completed a Bachelor of Science in Education, Bachelor of Journalism, and Masters of Journalism degrees. He resided in Burnt Hills, New York from 1970-2001. After working in marketing communications for the General Electric Company and Madison North Advertising Agency, he was cofounder of three full service audio-visual communications firms: Light & Power Productions, Center Stage, and Mass Communications. He consulted on marketing communications for Engelhard Corporation and Rhone-Poulenc. He was currently serving on the Board of Directors of The Marketing Alliance. He moved to Green Cove Springs in 2001. He was an avid golfer and took pride in serving on the Board of Directors at the Walhalla Country Club and the Edison Club in Rexford, NY. He also served on the Board of Directors at Magnolia Point Golf and Country Club and Secession Golf Club in Beaufort, SC. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Caroline Brooks Hanley; his son, Kyle Patrick Hanley (wife, Kimberley), and grandson, Charles Robert Hanley of Orlando, Florida. Friends may call at their home in Magnolia Point from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Thursday, March 25, 2004. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to The Community Hospice Foundation, Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257. He is being cremated according to his wishes. Arrangements are under the care of Broadus-Raines Family Funeral Home, 501 Spring St., Green Cove Springs.
