Obituary of Charles-W. Anderson


ANDERSON Charles W. Anderson, age 95, husband of the late Bernice Sheppard Anderson and former longtime Ansonia resident now living in Hamden, died April 11. He was born November 17, 1913 in Ansonia, son of the late Jacob Sydney Anderson and Harriet Blackham Anderson. He worked as a tool maker for Shelton Products. A 1931 graduate of Pine High School in Ansonia, Charles was a 70 year member of the Fountain Hose Fire Company in Ansonia and a member of the Immanuel St. James Episcopal Church in Derby. He was a 56 year member of the former George Washington Masonic lodge in Ansonia, member of the Retired Men's Club also in Ansonia, and an avid bowler in several Valley bowling leagues. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his son, Charles Anderson Jr. He leaves one daughter Harriet O'Neill and her husband, Edward of Hamden; three grandchildren, Ryan O'Neill and his wife, Kristin, and Kevin and Kerry O'Neill. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 14, at the Immanuel St. James Episcopal Church in Derby with friends asked to go directly to church for 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Ansonia. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Connecticut Hospice of Branford, 100 Double Beach Rd. The Jenkins-King Funeral Home, (jenkinskingfh.com) 12 Franklin St. Ansonia, is entrusted with arrangements.
