On Friday, Aug. 21, 2009 with his wife by his side, and after a short battle with cancer, Tommy Williams took his last breath on earth and his first breath in eternity. Tommy is survived by his wife of 51 years, Amelia Williams, his daughter Blythe Williams, his daughter and son-in-law Amy and John Anderson, grandson Ian Thomas Anderson, his brother and sister-in-law Jim and Tommy Sue Williams, his sister Helen Bailey and numer-ous nieces, nephews, and great- nieces and great- nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Williams Perdue, sister and brother-in-law Frances and Jack Hand, and brother-in-law William E. Bailey. Tommy lived a life of service to his family and community. From 1951-1955, Tommy served his country in the United States Air Force. He worked for and retired from the Department of Defense as an industrial security inspector after 28 years of service. Tommy was a mem-ber of the city of Niceville's Planning Board from 1987 to 2004. He served as a trustee at First Baptist Church of Valparaiso and was a beloved men's Sunday school teacher there. The family wishes to express their gratitude to his church family at First Baptist Church Valparaiso, and the extended church family at New Hope Baptist Church in Valparaiso for their many expressions of love throughout his ordeal. The compassion of his physicians, espe-cially Dr. Ann Gwinnup, was especially helpful throughout his struggle with cancer. Although cancer took many things, it was unable to take Tommy's thankful and kind nature. A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2009 from 3-5pm at Heritage Gardens Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 24, 2009 at 2:00pm also at Heritage Gardens Funeral Home, with Revs.T.J. Kollar and Ernest Walker officiating and Rev. David Wilson officiating at the graveside service. Floral tributes will be accepted or donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Valparaiso as expressions of celebration of Tommy's life.
