ABEL, Charles Owens, who was born December 13, 1934, in Heflin, StaffordCounty, Va., diedSeptem-ber 25, 2010, in Tampa. He was predeceas-ed by his father, William Murray Abel; mother, Queen Victoria Latham Abel; and brother, William Murray Abel Jr. He graduated Stafford County High School, Virginia, 1953; served in the U.S. Army in Korea, 1954-' 58; married"Tucky" Thelma Runyon Lewis, December 27, 1958, in Fredericksburg, Va.; and Graduated College of William & Mary, Williamsburg, Va., 1961. Mr. Abel is survived by his wife of 52 years, "Tucky"; three children, Eliza Susan Abel Fisher, wife of Tom Fisher, "Chuck" Charles O. Abel Jr., and Magnus Murray Abel; and three grandchildren, Thomas Anthony Fisher Jr.,Melissa Lynne Fisher and Charles Owens Abel III. He taught, coached and was vice-principal of King William High School, King William County, Va., andof New Kent High School, New Kent County, Va. Thefamily moved to Tampa in 1966, where he taught, coached and was vice-principal of Wilson Middle School, 1966-1996. Mr. Abel was a member of Palma Ceia Methodist Church, Masons, Elks and American Legion. A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 2 at Palma Ceia Methodist Church, with a reception following in the fellowship hall.
