Anniston - Funeral services for Charles Olin "Coot" Godwin, 87, will be today at 11 a.m. at Saks Baptist Church, with the Rev. Daniel Harper officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time. There will also be a funeral service today at 4 p.m. Eastern Time at Bellview Baptist Church in Rockmart, Ga., with the Rev. Gerald Dickerson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before service time. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Mr. Godwin died Sunday at his home. Survivors include his wife, Jerry Harper Godwin; granddaughter, Haven Jacobs; grandson, Thomas McBee; two brothers, John McCay Godwin and Will Owen "Bill" Godwin; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wynell Golden Godwin; daughter, Marena Elisabeth McBee; two sisters and four brothers. Mr. Godwin was born in Smyrna, Ga. on February 17, 1925 and moved to the Bellview Community in Polk County on January 1, 1929. He attended Fish Creek School near Rockmart, Georgia. He began working at the Goodyear Plant in Rockmart at the age of 16. He moved to Bell Bomber (later Lockheed) in Marietta in 1942 when the plant opened. Charles retired with more than 35 years of service. He was a member of Saks Baptist Church in Anniston and Bellview Baptist in Rockmart.
