Obituary of Charles-L. Williams


Services for Charles Lawrence Williams, age 73, of Florence, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Shackelford Chapel in Collinwood, with Brother William Beal and Brother Emerald Bailey officiating. Interment will follow in Collinwood Memorial Gardens, with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County in charge of arrangements.Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to service time Thursday at the funeral home.Pallbearers are Rex Caperton, Don Taylor, Bob Bevis, Don Hale, Carl Fred Daniel and Tommy Johnston.A native of Collinwood, he passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at Wayne Medical Center.He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence O. and Pauline Hollis Williams, and a brother, Jimmy H. Williams.Mr. Williams began teaching in Collinwood School System in 1964, continuing as educator and principal until his retirement in 1998. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Edgemont Methodist Church.He is survived by his wife, Reba Hale Williams, of Florence, Ala.; daughter, Terry Behel and husband, Rickie, of Greenhill; granddaughters, Laura Huntley, of Chicago, Ill., and Haley Huntley, of Florence; stepgranddaughter, Cortney Jones and husband, Brian, of Greenhill; and stepgreat-grandchildren, Kaleb and Karly Jones.
