Mr. Charles (Charley) Junior Peters, age 71, of Flowery Branch died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, of an extended illness. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He loved life and his family. He received a heart transplant 21 years ago in 1987. He loved woodworking. He was a 33rd degree member of the Riverdale Masonic Lodge No. 709 for 26 years. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Shriners. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Estelle Peters; brother, Raymond Peters; sisters, Edna Hampton and Wilma Greenwood; and grandson, Justin Peters. He was survived by and married to his loving wife for 52 years, Mary Peters; daughters, Shirley Norris and husband Cecil of Flowery Branch, Tootsie Peters, Flowery Branch, Bobbie Blanton and fiance Gary Phillips of Cumming, Lucky Brown and husband Jeff of Carrollton; sons, Ronnie Peters and wife Rhonda of Flowery Branch, Donnie Peters and wife Lynn of Buford, Billy Peters and wife Suzanne of Carrollton, Terry Thompson of Southhaven, Miss., and Jerry Thompson of New Hartford, Conn.; brothers, Emory Peters and Jimmy Peters, both of Tifton; 28 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at 4 p.m. at Memorial Park South Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Jim Hughes and Pastor Don Mulkey. Interment will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery Veteran Section.
