Obituary of Charles-G. Martin

MARTIN, Charles G. October 1, 1909 July 24, 2007 Beloved husband to Mary for 70 years. Passed away after a long life well lived. He is survived by his wife Mary, sons Alex (Carol), David and Walter and granddaughters Mari and Kate. Predeceased by sister Lil, brother Jack and son Dougie. Dad was born in Sault St. Marie but moved to Victoria as a small child. He grew up on James Island and worked for CIL until his retirement. Charles and Mary had one of the early farms at Saanichton where they raised their sons. After retirement Charles and Mary moved into Victoria and spent the next 35 years old time dancing, socializing with friends and family, gardening and doing his crossword puzzles. He was a man with a twinkle in his eye and a pleasant word for everyone. We will miss his chuckles and snippets of song. Many thanks to Parkwood Court staff and Dr. S. Matthews for their care. I do not know where I am going Nor did I know before I was here Is death the end and nothing more I do not know But I can assure you it is Something we will all find out So let us face life without fear or doubt We could be in for a nice surprise And if not, what will we care. A private gathering will be held to celebrate the life of this very special, well loved man. 394247
