Obituary of Charles Flanagan


Charles Flanagan Westford Native, and WWII Veteran DANVERS Mr. Charles Flanagan, died July 10, 2008, at the New England Home for the Deaf, in Danvers, MA, aged 88 years. A World War II Army veteran. He was the husband of Anita (Watkins) Flanagan with whom he celebrated 29 years of marriage. Born in the Forge Village section of Westford, on August 17, 1919, he was the son of the late Charles Flanagan and Della (Drake) Flanagan. He received his education at the Cameron School in Forge Village, and was a graduate of Westford Academy. After graduation, he went to work in the mills as a mill hand. At the outbreak of World War II, he enlisted in the United States Army on January 19, 1942 and served as a Cook 060. He was the recipient of the Asiatic Pacific Service Ribbon, Victory Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. Honorably discharged on October 10, 1945. Mr. Flanagan drove a cab in Lowell for many years. He was a Wrestle Mania fan, and according to family members was a great father, "One of the Best". He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Besides his loving wife, Anita, he is survived by a four stepchildren, Annette Johnson and her husband, Terrence, of Dorchester, Jeannette Arrington of Lowell, Marylen Wilson of Nashua, NH, and a son, Danny Wilson and his wife, Jennifer, of Lowell; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the MORSE-BAYLISS FUNERAL HOME, 122 Princeton Blvd. at Chester and Harvard Sts., Lowell on Sunday from 4-8 P.M. Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday at 10 A.M. Friends invited. Interment will take place in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA at 2 P.M. Funeral Director Walter F.
