Charles E. McCormack -->Charles E. McCormack BONIFAY, FL Charles Edward McCormack, age 75, died on Jan. 10, 2010 from a 3 year battle with Mesothelioma, a cruel and incurable form of cancer, at his home in Bonifay, Florida. He was born in Massachusetts and had served in the U S Army. He was employed by General Dynamics Shipyard in Quincy, Massachusetts before becoming a Braintree Police Officer. He was a Master Locksmith and owned and operated Commercial Lock in South Weymouth, MA. Upon retirement from the Police Force in 1986, he and his wife, Rita, opened a kennel in West Brookfield, Massachusetts, permanently retiring to Florida in 1993. He had many hobbies, one of which was being an Assistant Scout Master at Old South Union Congregational Church in South Weymouth, Massachusetts. He enjoyed working on his scroll saw and has won many awards for his beautiful creations. He also enjoyed teaching people how to train their dogs in obedience. He and his dog, Dusty, a Rhodesian Ridgeback, were third in the country in AKC Obedience Trials at one time. He is missed terribly by his Border Collie, Jaffe and the light of his life; Katy, his tiny Pomeranian. Ile was the son of the late Byron McCormack and Ella (Leavitt) McConnack. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard. He is survived by his wife Rita (Martin) McCormack of Bonifay, a daughter, Patricia Lastoria of Hingham, Massachusetts, a son, Charles McCormack, Jr of Las Vegas, Nevada, two brothers, Donald of Weymouth, Massachusetts, Thomas of Rockland, Massachusetts, two grandchildren, Brandon and Cailin and one great grand daughter, Ryleigh. Also surviving are two step children, Kimberlie Gerrior of Bonifay, Florida and Matthew Gerrior of Allentown, Pennsylvania. Memorialization was by cremation with arrangement by Sims Funeral Home of Bonifay, Florida. A memorial service is to be held in Massachusetts at a later date at the Old South Union Congregational Church.
