Charles E. Gage Newport Charles E. Gage, 85, of Gage Road, passed away on December 18, 2012, at St. Luke's Home, New Hartford, where he resided since July. Mr. Gage was born on May 13, 1927, in Gray, a son of the late Dayton L. and Vera (Abeel) Gage. He received his education at Poland Central School. Charlie was first married to Marion McCluskey who died in 1970. In 1973, he married Joyce (Estey) Levenworth in Newport. In his early years, he was self-employed as a carpenter in this area. More recently, he worked for New England Tank as a construction foreman until his retirement in 2006. Charlie served as a 4-H Leader and helped construct dugouts and bleachers at the school and area ball fields. He was a member of the former Norway Grange and belonged to the Masons at one time. Charlie also participated in bowling leagues for many years. He was a member of the Norway Historical Society and of the Baptist faith. Survivors besides his wife of 39 years, Joyce, include nine children, Barry (Naomi) Gage, of Little Falls, Tom (Karen) Gage, of Las Vegas, NV, Tim (Donna) Gage, of Norway, Brenda Burke (Mark Lewandrowski), of Whitesboro, Ginny Bladek (Leo Bienkowski), of Little Falls, Cindy (Tom) Feane, of Herkimer, Linda (Tim) Klock, also of Herkimer, Charlie (Candace) Gage, Jr., of Norway, and Jack Gage (Nikki Fredericks), also of Norway; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Kay Gage, of Ilion, and Doris Waldruff, of Norway; brother-in-law, Francis (Marie) Estey, of Little Falls; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his first wife, he was predeceased by two sisters, Vivian Gage and Isabel Farber, and by two brothers, Gerald and Herbert Gage. Funeral services will be held at the Autenrith Funeral Home, Newport, on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Chris Wintermute, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Little Falls, officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Gardens, Little Falls. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday (today) from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Norway Historical Society.
