Charles E. Davis -->Charles Edward Davis, 77, of Norwell passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014. The son of the late Charles E. and Peggy (Philbrick) Davis, he was born in Weymouth, Nov. 1, 1936. Charles served in the Navy from 1954 to 1957. Before retiring, he was a machinist for the Boston Gear Works Manufacturing. Charles loved motorcycles, boating, camping, and he was a Newfoundland dog owner. Husband of the late Jane (Merritt) Davis, he is survived by his children, Allison Beane and her husband Lorne of Pembroke, Jody Costa and her husband Michael of Kingston, and Kurt Davis and his wife Laurie of Hanover. Charles was the brother to Guy Davis of Weymouth, Jimmy Davis of Fla., Donnie Davis of Fla., Mary Ellen MacMillian of Halifax, Sandy Bell of Bridgewater, and the late Patricia Rizzoto. Charles was the grandfather to Justin, Kevin, Meghan, Eric, Tyler, Jeffery and Christopher. Charles is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours were held in the Sullivan Funeral Homes, 551 Washington Street, Hanover, Thursday, June 5, from 4-7 p.m. A funeral home service was held Friday, June 6, at 12:30 p.m. Burial in Washington St. Cemetery in Norwell.
