Charles Bruce Parker Clinton C. Bruce Parker, 68, passed away on July 12, 2008, after a long and courageous battle with non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma at Strong Memorial Hospital. His wife Peggy and his family were by his side. Bruce was born July 2, 1940, in Manhattan and raised and educated in Darien, CT. He graduated from Norwich University in Vermont and then served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1969, achieving the rank of Captain. He was stationed in Fort Knox, Korea, and Alaska. He led a successful and distinguished career in marketing in the field of High Tech Information Processing Systems. Bruce was the president of the Rome Representatives Association since 1998 and a great supporter of the Rome Labs. He was deeply involved with the AFCEA Scholarship Awards Program, which supported local students in business and engineering to graduate and return to work in the Mohawk Valley. He loved and cherished the work he did and the many amazing friendships he developed throughout his years working with Griffiss Air Force Base and Rome Labs, especially his weekly lunches at Buckey's with his close friends, Arnie Lanckton and Terry Prossner, which inspired lively political debates. Bruce is survived by his wife, Peggy Quinn, and his children, Jennifer Parker-Starbuck and her partner, Josh Abrams, of London, England, Jed Parker and his partner, Katia Maguire, of Brooklyn, NY, Jeffrey Parker and his wife, Dannelle, of Utica, NY, and Molly Parker-Myers and her husband, Lars, of Brooklyn/Stone Ridge, NY. He also has five cherished grandchildren, Zeena Starbuck, Evan and Maggie Parker, and Hazel and Flora Parker-Myers, whom he loved so incredibly dearly. He is also survived by his former wife, Ginger Parker, of Utica, NY. He is survived by his two brothers, Ned Parker of Rhode Island and Rod Parker of Cape Cod, as well as their wives and children. He was predeceased by his father, Charles B.H. Parker, and his mother, Lucille Herb Parker. Bruce had many passions in his life including his family, his work, nature, and military history. He was a certified Master Gardener and the founder of the Upstate NY AYSO (American Youth Soccer) program in 1976. He was always ready for a spirited debate and would eagerly engage anyone interested on any topic. Those who knew him will surely miss his presence everyday. The public is welcome to attend a celebration of his life to be held on July 25th at 3:30 pm at the Kirkland Art Center in the village of Clinton.
