PITTSFIELD -- Charles A. Sanborn, 50, died, Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, in Bangor, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on Nov. 9, 1960, in Waterville, the son of George and Merita (Reynolds) Sanborn Sr. He graduated from Maine Central Institute in 1979 and served our country in the Army.Charlie was employed for more than 20 years at Cianbro Corp. in Pittsfield and retired early due to his illness. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Dexter and of the Sebasticook Valley Elks Lodge 2713. He liked playing darts and cards, especially poker. He enjoyed carpentry, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing and riding motorcycles. He is survived by his mother, Merita Sanborn of Pittsfield; his siblings, Suzette Noel and her husband, Joseph, of Winslow, George Sanborn Jr. and his wife, Rebecca, Marie Whitman and her husband, John, Melissa Havey and her husband, Zeke, all of Pittsfield, Melanie Sanborn and her companion, Jason Lydem of Winslow and Joe Sanborn of Pittsfield; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Cindy, Lisa, Steve, Dee, Jimmy, Bobby, Ernie and Buffy and the girls.He was predeceased by his father, George Sanborn Sr.The family would like to express their gratitude to Eastern Maine Medical Center Oncology staff, Dr. Pita, Dr. Bach and the Lafayette Family Cancer Center in Brewer, for the wonderful, compassion care given to Charles.A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Village Cemetery, Peltoma Avenue, Pittsfield, with the Rev.
