Memorial Service for Cecil John Bruner III, 52, New Smyrna Beach, who died Friday, May 18, 2007, at Hospice of Volusia County Care Center, Port Orange, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at Ormond Beach Union Church, 56 N. Beach St., Ormond Beach, (1 block N. of Ormond bridge), officiated by the Rev. Charles Melvin. Cecil was born in Halifax Hospital, Daytona Beach, March 11, 1955, and graduated from Seabreeze High in 1973. He worked for several Kmarts from age 17 to 51. Most recently he worked in theOrange City store. Cecil was a Cub Scout, and Boy Scout in Ormond Beach, and Boy Scout leader in Halifax District. He volunteered to help raise funds and worked on Pine Ridge High football stadium long hours. His hobby was miniature trains and was a member of O.B. Train Club. His main hobby was helping others in whatever way he could. His surviving kin is his mother, Ann Bruner, a retired legal secretary; and sister, Elaine Bruner, who works for Florida Health Care, both of Ormond Beach; aunt, Geraldine Barberie; uncle, Frank Barberie; cousins, Frank Barberie, Jr., and Mary (Barberie) Willman. His fiancée of 21 years, Jeanne Priemer, and her two children, Amanda and Robert, who is finishing credits for graduation from Jacksonville University, were a family in the New Smyrna Beach home. Jeanne is a manager for Denny's in Daytona Beach Shores, and was also active in scouting. Cecil's father, John Bruner, Jr., (deceased) was the Starter for all NASCAR races from 1959 through 1976, when he had a heart attack. He traveled to races with his mother, Mary Bruner, and father, John Bruner, Sr., who was Bill France's Field Manager starting in 1949. Their daughter, Geraldine (Bruner) Barberie, was active in the NASCAR Wive's Club for many years. She and her husband, Frank Barberie, are now retired, living in Port Orange. Donations may be given to Ormond Beach Union Church; Hospice of Volusia County Care Center, Port Orange; and Share The Health, c/o Yachter Family Chiro. Cntr., Lake Mary, FL. MAY GOD BLESS THEM ALL.
