CLARK, Cecil Curtis passed away Feb. 15, 2013, at the home and loving care of Ron and Cherri Clark in Dover. He was born Sept. 23, 1935 in Hackney, OH, to Curtis Luther & Lucille Welch Clark. He went to Hackney Grade School, Manchester High and was a 1953 Beverly High School graduate. His mother, father, and brother, Herman preceded him in death. He is survived by Carol (Herman's wife) of Westland, MI; sister, Edna Phillis of Hackney; brothers, Norman of McConnelsville, Edward (Janet) of Bellefontaine, OH, Gerald (Mariam) of Brooklyn, MI, and Ronald (Cherri) of Dover; stepchildren, Paula Blair of Vienna, WV, Pamela Wright of Macksburg, OH and David Wright of Marietta, OH. Cecil volunteered and entered the United States Navy in 1954 and, as a ship's helmsmen, did a world tour on the USS Midway. He would say, "I've been around the world and Hackney." In the early 60s, Cecil was a mentor to his youngest brother and the boys of Center Twp as their elementary school basketball coach, Little League baseball Manager and Coach and a Boy Scout Leader. Cecil moved to his beloved Treasure Island, in 1974 where he made many friends. He worked at well known beach spots such as the Sandsabar, Penguin Restaurant and Harold's in John's Pass. He worked for many years at Raymond James starting at their first building on 66th St. and moved with them to the Carillon Center. For the last 12 years he worked for the City of Treasure Island as a Causeway Toll Both operator and finally as the bridge tender on the Treasure Island bridge, "the best job I ever had." Cecil was an active member of American Legion Post 158 on Treasure Island where he currently served as vice-commander. Cecil loved all sports and was a die-hard NASCAR, Tampa Bay Rays, Buccaneers, and Lightning fan and supporter. The family thanks LifePath Hospice's Aqua Team and especially Nurse Lynne for their support and care. Memorial services will be held at the Treasure Island American Legion Post 158, Wednesday, Feb. 27th, at 6 pm.
