AUGUSTA, Ga., - Cathy LeVerne Johnson was born October 24, 1957, in Augusta, Georgia to the late Heyward and Lillie B. Johnson. She departed this life on Wednesday, October 10, at her home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 17, at 1 o clock p.m., at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Reverend Clyde Hill, Sr., officiating. Interment will be in Walker Memorial Cemetery. Cathy attended public schools in Richmond County at C. T. Walker Elementary, Tubman Junior High School, and the Academy of Richmond County where she graduated in 1974. After high school, she attended North Georgia College (Dahlonega) and Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in Atlanta, Georgia. There she received her mortuary science degree in 1977. Cathy also was employed with Richmond County, Collins Middle School and Murphey Middle School. She dedicated her life to serving the students and families at each school she was employed. She was an active worker at Murphey until the time of her death. She leaves to cherish her memories a loving brother: Heyward L. (Sandra) Johnson, Sr. (Hephzibah), a cherished God sister: Mary Stewart, (Augusta), one nephew: Heyward L. (Akisha) Johnson, Jr. (Duluth), one niece: Kierstin L. Johnson (Augusta), three great -nephews: Carter, Cole and Corbin Johnson, a devoted Godson: Christopher (Alexzandria) Jackson, (Athens), an uncle: Earl (Janie) Middleton (Vicksburg, MS), a caring and supportive neighbor: Milton Fielding, (Augusta) and a host of cousins, family, and friends.
