Wood, Catherine Virginia (Crandall)Nov. 13, 1918 - March 17, 2011Catherine Virginia (Crandall) Wood, 92, of Sarasota died March 17, 2011.Her husband Melvin died in 2006. She is survived by her four sons, Richard (Susan) of Grand Rapids, Mich., Larry (Maureen) of Racine, Wis., Douglas (Marilyn) of Overland Park, Kan. and Timothy of Kansas City, Mo. Also surviving are grandchildren, Catherine Papierski (Paul) of Chicago, Ill., Suzanne Wood of Madison, Wis., Chris Wood of Atlanta, Ga., Jenny Suptic (Dan) of Kansas City; and two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Lucas Papierski. Born in Bradford, Pa., to Guy and Venus Crandall, Catherine met Melvin in Batavia N.Y., and they married in 1944. In 1963, the family moved to Grand Rapids, Mich., where Melvin worked for Doehler-Jarvis. In 1976, she moved to Sarasota, FL. During her life in Grand Rapids, she was active in golf and bowling leagues. While living in Florida, Catherine continued her interest in golf. She and Melvin also made two trips to South America.
