CATHERINE (KATHRYN) JOHNSON (NEE HUBER) "MOTHER SUPERIOR" EAST CHICAGO, IN Catherine (Kathryn) Johnson (nee Huber) "Mother Superior", age 84 of East Chicago passed away Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Community Hospital in Munster. She is survived by one son, Robert E. Johnson of East Chicago; two daughters: Karen (late Ron) McGregor of Lake Station and Elizabeth "Betty" Johnson of Hanover, MA; eight grandchildren: Robert M., Michele (Jason) Baker, Charlene Johnson, Regina Hobbs, Andrea (Jason) Jorgenson, Melissa, Christopher and Nicole McGregor; six great grandchildren; three sisters: Evelyn (late Max) Boyan of Hammond, Anna Mae (late Ted) Krajewski of Munster and Betty Rose (Bernard "Swede") Paulson of Dyer; one brother, Jim (Betty) Huber of Medina, OH; sisters-in-law: Irene (late Bill) Huber of Munster and Shirley (late Alvin) Huber of Las Vegas, NV; dear friend, Jane Erskine of MA. Preceded in death by husband, E. Eugene Johnson in 2003; three brothers: Virgil (late Inez) Huber, Bill and Alvin Huber; and one sister, Loretta (late Harry) Darin. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. DIRECTLY at St. Stanislaus Church, 808 W. 150th Street, East Chicago, IN with Msgr. John Siekierski, Msgr. Joseph Semancik and Rev. Alphonse Skerl concelebrating. Entombment Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Visitation at the Fife Funeral Home, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN on Monday from 3:00-8:00 p.m. The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary will hold services at 3:30 p.m. Monday; The Lady of Fatima will pray the rosary at 4:00 p.m. Monday. Catherine was co-owner of Huber Funeral Home in East Chicago for 50 years. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Church, member of the Lady of Fatima at Holy Trinity Hungarian Church in East Chicago and a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit #369. She was past president of the East Chicago Emblem Club #202. In lieu of flowers, donations to Share Foundation or St. Stanislaus Building Fund would be appreciated.
