Obituary of Carroll-L. Allen


Carroll L. Allen, 87, Seymour, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007, at Covered Bridge Health Campus. Mr. Allen was a World War II Army veteran and a telephone executive for 37 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Seymour and Seymour Kiwanis Club. He was an avid woodworker who loved golf and loved to travel. He was a Boy Scout troop leader in Farina, Ill. He graduated from Farina High School and attended Milton College in Milton, Wis. Born April 2, 1920, in Greeley, Neb., he was a son of Frank and Isabella Brown Allen, both of whom preceded him in death. On Aug. 28, 1943, in St. Louis, he married Geneva Lucille Heicher, who survives. Besides his wife of more than 64 years, other survivors include six children, Joyce (Robert) Kauke, Janet (Michael) Murphy, Judith (Barry) Gilbert, Jane (Craig) Wehrli, Bruce (Diane) Allen and Julia (Hans) Karnstedt; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a brother, William G. (Maurine) Allen. The Rev. Steve Cherry will conduct memorial services at 2 p.m. Sunday at Voss Chapel, Seymour. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until time of service Sunday at the funeral home.
