She was superbly cared for by beloved caregivers, Gail Ballard, Betty Cooley and Jo Warmack. She was born Oct. 12, 1908, on a family farm in Hellagar, Ala. where she did her household duties and assisted her mother in running the switchboard in their living room of the family owned Bell Telephone Company. She attended the school where her father was a teacher and the principal until the family moved to Tuscaloosa in 1925 so her father and the five children could attend the University of Alabama. Carrie's childhood illnesses and surgery gave her a compassion for people who were hurting that led her into being a nurse for 10 years for Dr. G.B. Conwell, two years at the Health Department, and 21 years as the Coordinator of the Blood Bank at the DCH Regional Medical Center. After she retired at 65, Carrie was a volunteer for 30 years at FOCUS, Tuscaloosa Religious Services, and as a caregiver for numerous people. In 1925 the Bell family started attending Calvary Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa. Although all other family members were led of the Lord to minister in other churches, Carrie was led to serve her Lord faithfully at Calvary in numerous children and choir ministries. She was the oldest and longest term member of Calvary at her homegoing to her eternal family. The Lord also gave Carrie an extensive ministry as a trainer of children's workers throughout Alabama and at Baptist Conferences in the U.S. and several foreign countries. Thus her love for travel was fulfilled!Pallbearers will be Duke, Mark, Joe, Josiah and Stephen Ballard, H.B. Lee, Les McCary, and T.R.
