Carolyn Rose Smith, 65, of Graceville, FL, died September 21, 2013. She is survived by her sisters, Rebecca (Hubert) Toole of Atlanta and Jacqueline (Mac) Golson of Fairhope, AL, as well as many loving members of the Smith and Beck families. She is preceded in death by her parents, the late Abb Jack and Mildred Beck Smith of Geneva, AL. Carolyn grew up in Geneva, AL and was a long time resident of Graceville, FL. She graduated from Auburn University in 1971 and was a teacher for 41 years, with the majority of her teaching career at Jackson Alternative School in Marianna, FL. Carolyn had a life-long passion for horses. She was a horse trainer, breeder, show judge and riding instructor. She won many distinguished equestrian awards, including induction into Alabama Open Horseman's Hall of Fame in 2012. A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 6 at 2:00 p.m. at the Southern Cross Ranch, 6065 County Road 55, Columbia, AL 36319.
