Carolyn M. Smith of Southwick, Mass. Carolyn "Carol" M. (Rose) Smith, 65, was Called Safely Home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 11, 2008, at home surrounded by her loving and devoted family. She was born in Utica, N.Y. on October 1, 1942 a daughter of the late Robert and Mary (Depuy) Rose. Carol graduated from Chadwick High School in Chadwick, N.Y. She enjoyed bowling and bingo, but her true passion was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, Carol was predeceased by her husband, Ernest L. Smith; a daughter, Deborah Pallis; her step-father, Walter McMaster; and a brother, Robert Rose. Carol is survived to cherish her memory by her four loving daughters, Dawn (Terry) McFarland, Whitney Point, N.Y., Denise (Robert) Pritchard, Southwick, Mass., Diane (Walter) Jewell, Cohoes, N.Y., and Deby (Jeff) Smith, Binghamton, N.Y.; nine cherished grandchildren, Randy and Christina Pahlmann, Russell and Kristina Pritchard, Elizabeth and Kristin Pallis, Jessica Smith, Roxann Backus, and Alexis Smith-Katen; three adored great-grandchildren, David Mills, Serenity Pritchard-Daniels, and Ashley Stafford; two sisters, Debbie (Steve) Brooks, Rochester, N.Y., and Sandy (Ray) Spies, Syracuse, N.Y.; a brother, Steve (Vicki) McMaster, Utica, N.Y.; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 23rd at 11 a.m. in the Nichols Funeral Home, 7323 119th Street, Whitney Point, N.Y. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Carol's memory to a charity of one's choice.
