ONEIDA >> Carolyn M. (Welton) Henderson, 85, of Oneida, died peacefully Thursday evening Aug. 15, 2013 in Abraham House, Utica.She was born in Syracuse on Nov. 2, 1927, the daughter of the late William W. and Norma (Quiri) Welton. She was a graduate of Central High School and attended Syracuse University.She married John A. Henderson in Syracuse on Sept. 4, 1948. They moved to Oneida in 1951. Mr. Henderson died in 2007.Mrs. Henderson was active in several civic organizations and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was also a member and past president of the 20th Century Club and was a current member of the Renaissance Club.She is survived by her daughter, Linda Henderson, and her companion Albert Coutu Jr. of Pascoag, R.I.; her son, Scott of Oneida; and her grandchildren, Lauren Henderson and her husband, Brad Seymour of Wallingford, Conn. and Jonathan Henderson of Rochester, N.Y. She is also survived by her former daughter-in-law, Barbara Henderson; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Welton; and nieces and nephews. Her brother, Robert Q. Welton predeceased her.At Mrs. Henderson's request there will be no calling hours and services will be private. She asked that any donations in her memory be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, N.Y. 13413 or to the Oneida Healthcare Foundation. The family would also like to thank the staff and volunteers at Abraham House, 1203 Kemble St., Utica, N.Y. 13501 for their compassionate care and support.
