Carolyn Lucy Smith COWPENS, SC-- Mrs. Carolyn Lucy Smith, 76, of 2687 Battleground Road, Cowpens, SC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 27, 2012, at the Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in Spartanburg. SC. Born February 26, 1936, in Spartanburg County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Bynum Yelton and the late Victoria Lawter Yelton, and the wife of the late Paul Spencer Smith. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Bible Belt Baptist Church and loved playing the piano, her church and her family. Mrs. Smith is survived by three daughters, Myra Womick and husband David, Sharon Frazier, and Melba Hayes and husband Rick; three sons, Randy Smith, Paul Smith and wife Annie, and Timothy Smith; two sisters, Phyllis Stephens and Mary Henderson and husband Pete; one brother, Danny Yelton and wife Melba; and several grand and great-grandchildren. Funeral Services for Mrs. Smith will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 30, 2012, in the Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home Chapel, 211 East Frederick Street, Gaffney, SC, conducted by the Rev. Charles Hyatt. Burial will be in the New Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery following the Service. Visitation for Mrs. Smith will be Saturday, December 29, 2012, in the Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home, 211 East Frederick Street, Gaffney, from 2:00-4:00 PM.
