Carolyn Lenell Bridges-Smith GRETNA - Carolyn Lenell Bridges-Smith, 56, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. A native of Quincy, she was a member of the New Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church. She was born September 28, 1952. Viewing will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 3, at Bradwell Mortuary in Quincy (850-627-3700).Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. EDT Saturday, July 4, at New Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Quincy. Carolyn graduated with honors from Florida A&M University with a B.S. degree as a Speech Pathologist and taught for 34 years for the Gadsden County School System, where she retired in 2009.She was also a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. Carolyn is survived by her husband, Walter Lee Smith Jr. of Gretna; four sons, Walter Lee Smith III of Gretna, William M. Smith and Warren L. Smith (Vanessa) of Tallahassee, and Elder Windell L. Smith (Cynthia) of Dalton, Ga.; one daughter, Wanda L. Smith of Gretna; one special and loving brother, Gary L. Bridges of Quincy; two grandchildren.
