Carolyn-Kelley Russell, born in 1924, spouse of Herndon Kelley, daughter of Carl and Martha, mother of David C, Karen, Charles, Eric and Camille, died on December 25, 2005.
Carolyn Russell died at 3:15 p.m. Sunday, December 25, 2005, at Magnolia Square in Springfield. Carolyn was born on October 5, 1924, to Carl Brun and Martha Osbekoff in Chignik, Alaska, one of eight children. After the death of their parents, the children were raised at the Baptist Orphanage in Kodiak. She met Herndon D. Kelley in Kodiak and they were married on February 11, 1945. At the end of World War II, they moved to Springfield. Five children were born to this marriage. She later married John H. Russell on October 9, 1985. During her full life, she trained and worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse, finishing her career at Sigma House here in Springfield. She was preceded in death by her parents oldest son, David C. Kelley husband, Herndon Kelley brothers, Willard and Mervin Brun sister, Stella Suydam granddaughter, Sandra Diebel and husband, John Russell. She is survived by daughters, Karen and Dr. Charles Needy, of Washington D.C., Carolyn Brashers, Rosalind and Donald Kraeger, all of Springfield son, Eric and Camille Kelley, of Cabot Ark. 11 grandchildren 10 great-grandchildren sisters, Alice and Lloyd Marks, of Springfield, May and Dick Peerless, of California, Pauline Highet, of Washington State, Nancy Skonberg and her aunt, Annie, both of Alaska many nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 29, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North with the Rev. Joel Santti officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in White Chapel Cemetery.
