Obituary of Carolyn Hood


Carolyn Ruth Burrell Hood, 65, loving wife of Edward Hood, of 212 Scenic Heights Road, West Union, SC, passed away following a courageous battle with polio and cancer on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at Cottingham Hospice House.Born July 17, 1944 in Salem, SC, Mrs. Hood was the daughter of the late Evett F. and Essie Mae Wilson Burrell. She was a retired administrative assistant with SC Vocational Rehabilitation with 28 years of service and member of Calvary Baptist Church. Mrs. Hood was a graduate of Salem High School and Drohens Business College.In addition to her loving husband of the home, Mrs. Hood is survived by brother, Jack Burrell (Frances) of Seneca; sisters, Martha Heaton of Walhalla and Pasty Keasler (Gary) of Sunset, SC; and several adoring nieces, nephews and cousins.In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hood was predeceased by brother, Harold Burrell.Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 15, 2010 from the Chapel of Davenport Funeral Home with burial to follow in Oconee Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Monday, June 14, 2010 at Davenport Funeral Home.Memorials may be made to Shriner's Childrens Hospital, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.The family is at the home of sister, Martha Heaton, 117 Falcons View Court, Walhalla.Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.davenportfuneralhome.com
