TUSCALOOSA Carolyn Beatty Williams, age 91, of Tuscaloosa, died Dec. 29, 2010, at La Rocca Nursing Home. Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Ken Dunivant officiating and Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph E. Williams, Sr.; parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Beatty; and granddaughter, Esme Harris.Survivors include her son, Joseph E. Williams, Jr. (Ellen) of Metairie, La.; brother, Samuel Beatty (Maude) of Birmingham; nephew, Gene Beatty (Gerrianne) of Birmingham; grandchildren, Natalia Harris (Todd) and Elizabeth Williams; and five great-grandsons. Carolyn Beatty Williams was born in Tuscaloosa on May 28, 1919, to Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Beatty. She was married to Joseph E. Williams of McDonough, Ga. until his death in 1972. For most of her adult life, she was a court reporter for the Tuscaloosa County Juvenile Court and Domestic Relations Court. After her retirement she volunteered at DCH Regional Medical Center, was on the board of the Community Soup Bowl, and was involved in numerous activities through the First United Methodist Church.Very special thanks from the family to the staff of Merrill Gardens Assisted Living, nursing staff of DCH Regional Medical Center 6 Center, Dr. Regina Harrell, and the very caring staff of LaRocca Nursing Home.
