Carole J. Smith, 77, of Mechanic St., passed away unexpectedly Friday, August 19, 2011 at Saratoga Hospital. Born on Sept. 15, 1933 in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Doris DeRouville. Carole graduated from high school in Albany. She married Donald D. Smith on April 23, 1966 in Menands. The couple resided in Clifton Park for 17 years before moving to their current home in Galway. Carole was employed as a bank credit investigator at the State Bank of Albany for 17 years. She was a longtime, devoted member and current Deaconess at the Barkersville Christian Church. Carole loved going to her church, traveling with her husband in their RV, and raising her cats. Survivors besides her husband of 45 years include several nieces and nephews; and her church family and close friends. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, August 26, 2011 at the Barkersville Christian Church, 7200 Barkersville Road, Town of Providence. Services will follow at 7 p.m., at the church with the Rev. Patricia Atwell, pastor, officiating. Following the service, a reception will be held at the church fellowship center. A committal service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie. The family suggests that memorials take the form of donations to Gideons International, Saratoga Co.
