ObituaryCarole Anne Smith, age 61, of Ft. Myers, passed away suddenly on Dec. 28, 2004 after a brief illness in Marietta, GA. She is preceded in death by her father Dr. Robert Smith. Carole was born in Cleveland, OH on Dec. 16, 1943.She is survived by her beloved mother Ruth C. Smith of Marietta, GA, sisters Shiela Neely, brother Robert Smith, and sisters and brothers-in-law Joe and Maureen Reeser, Jeff and Nancy Stafford all of Marrietta and Jeff and Terrie Lammert of Pittsburgh, PA; also her companion and best friend of 30 years Richard L. Schroeder of Ft. Myers.Carole was a graduate of Magnificent High School and resided with her family in Bay Village, OH. She was a graduate of Kent State University, Kent, Ohio with a BS degree. Upon graduation she became a flight attendant with United Air Lines at age 21 based in Chicago. She enjoyed an outstanding career for 22 years both in Chicago and most recently San Francisco, CA. After retirement Carole was a travel agent specializing in cruises. For recreation Carole enjoyed cruising, sailing, boating, water skiing and snow skiing. She has traveled all over the world, many times with her mother. Upon her retirement to Ft. Myers in 1999 from the San Francisco area Carole and Richard Schroeder resided at the Forest County Club. Carole was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority, Sweetheart of Sigma, Chi, and received frequent recognition from United Air Lines as an outstanding flight attendant. She was popular and well liked by everyone with a sunny disposition and sense of humor. Funeral services were held at Our Lady of Angels Church, Cleveland, OH on Jan. 8, 2005. Memorial gifts can be given to the Heart Fund.
