"Loving wife, mother and grandmother" CLYDE/PHEPLS - Carol Pettey-Miller, age 57, of Shepard Road, Clyde, died unexpectedly on Wednesday (Nov. 25, 2009) at Strong Memorial Hospital. Friends may call on Tuesday (Dec. 1) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cheney Funeral Home 70 Main St., Phelps. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (Dec. 2) at 11 a.m. at the United Church of Phelps. It is suggested that memorial donations be made to Eugene Miller, 2885 Shepard Road, Clyde 14433. Carol was born on Jan. 8, 1952, in Oswego, the daughter of Dennis Pettey and Mary-Jean Brown. Carol was a caregiver extraordinaire. She cared for the people, not the policy. She was the backbone of her family. Carol enjoyed riding her motorcycle with her husband Gene, she loved the outdoors and the water. Carol was a friend of Bill W. Carol is survived by her husband, Gene of Clyde: two daughters: Tammy (Ronald) Wicks of Canandaigua and Tina Lyn (James) Fiori of Phelps; grandchildren: Julia, Nicholas and Michael Wicks and Jasmine and Noah Fiori; mother, Mary Jean (John) Thomas Sr. of Phelps; brothers: Dennis Pettey of Rochester, Joseph Pettey of Phelps, Daniel Pettey of Lyons, John (Leona) Thomas of Phelps and Charles Thomas of Clifton Springs; sisters: Nancy (John) Digby of California, Peggy (Walter) Shampine of South Carolina and Edna (Richard) Chapman of South Carolina; and many nieces, nephews and cousins; mother- and father-in-law MaryAnn and Albert Miller of Maniwaki, Quebec; sisters-in-law: Marilyn of Quebec, Millicent (Jamie) Knapp Hill of Toronto, Marlene Miller of Newark and Marie Miller of Clifton Springs; and bother-in-law Desmond (Kim Smith) Miller of Holley, Orleans County. She was predeceased by her father, Dennis Pettey; sister, Jeanie and niece Jennifer.
