Carl H. Anderson SHOKAN-Carl H. Anderson, 90 of Bostock Road, died Friday, March 29, 2013 at the Abany Medical Center. An area resident for the past 41 years, he and his brother were the owners of S.W. Anderson Sales, a heating and air conditioning business still in existence today. He was born Aug. 29, 1922 in Roslyn, N.Y. son of the late Charles andHulda Marie Hogland Anderson. Mr. Anderson proudly served our country with the U. S. Marine Corp. in World War II from 1942 to 1945. He had been a member of the Shokan American Legion Post # 1627, and the Olive Fire Dept. Co. #2. He had an appreciation for nature, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. His family describe him as a ‘Gentleman Farmer' who was an independent, Jack-of-all Trades. Surviving are his wife whom he married in 1948, Jean Butler Anderson, two daughters: Cathy Anderson and her husband Burt Penchansky of Saugerties, and Carol and her husband Karl Groeger of Center Moriches,N.Y. A sister ‘Sis' Walker of Port Washington. He was predeceased by brothers Oluf and Siggy. A Service to Celebrate the Life of Carl will be held on Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home 87 Main St., Phoenicia. Military honors will be performed by the Shokan Post # 1627 American Legion. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the ASPCA, or the Olive Fire Dept., P.O. Box 1309 Olivebridge 12461.
