Obituary of Carol-Ann O-Neill

->O'Neill, Carol AnnCarol Ann Mulcahy O'Neill, passed away peacefully in the early hours of May 10, 2012. She was married to LeRoy T. O'Neill for over 50 years, Roy passed away on April 14, 2011. Carol was an extraordinarily loving wife and mother. Carol and Roy raised seven children together and were the proud grandparents of fourteen. Carol was a graduate of Mount Saint Mary College in Hooksett, New Hampshire. She received a degree in Elementary Education. After teaching for several years she married LeRoy O'Neill eventually settling in Rye then Mamaroneck, New York. Carol was the consummate supporting spouse. Roy frequently commented that she always supported his dreams and aspirations always putting him first. After Roy's retirement they moved to Worcester, New York to begin the next chapter of their life. They settled on a 90-acre farm and began raising sheep, enjoying nature, reading and tending to grandchildren. Grandma was known for her delicious pot roast, mashed potatoes and perhaps the best cupcakes ever eaten. In the Spring and Summer she could frequently be found picking strawberries or wild flowers with her grandchildren and in the winter she loved to ride the toboggan on the big hill behind her home. About five years ago when she became ill, Carol and Roy moved to Farmington, Connecticut to be closer to family. Most recently she lived at Avon Health Center in Avon, Connecticut and was cared for by their wonderful staff. Over the last 15 months of her life she was also cared for by McLean Hospice. The family would like to thank all those who helped us during this difficult time. They will be missed by many, many people. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Saturday (June 23) at 11:00am in Most Holy Trinity Church, 320 East Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the McLean Hospice Program, 75 Great Pond Road, Simsbury, CT 06070. Arrangements are being handled by The Ahern Funeral Homes, Inc., www.ahern funeralhome.com.
