Obituary of Carol-A. Carter


CARTER Mrs. Carol A. (Mason) Carter, age 60, of Union Street, died Monday, February 3, 20003, at St. Mary s Hospital, Waterbury. Mrs. Carter was born April 25, 1942, in Bridgeport, a daughter of the late Allen and Terlee (Puryear) Carter. Mrs. Carter was educated in Bridgeport and was a 1960 graduate of Warren Harding High School. She moved to Waterbury soon after graduating high school. Prior to her illness she was employed by General Data Communications, in both Waterbury and Naugatuck for many years. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church as well as Goodwill Lodge No 1325 IBPOE of Waterbury. She is survived by her ex-husband and father of her children, Frederick C. Carter Sr., of Waterbury. Two sons, Frederick C. Carter Jr. of Waterbury and John Carter of Southern; two daughters, Venita Eagles and Gay Lyn MacClean, both of Waterbury; one brother, James Mason of Lorton, Va.; one sister Nannette McFadden of Stratford; one son-in-law Isaac Eagles of Waterbury; nine grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and a host of friends. She was predeceased by two brothers, Stanley and Allen Mason of Bridgeport; two sisters, Catherine Rhodes of Sacramento, calif, and Leda Massey of Los Angeles, Calif.; and also her friends and companion of many years John St. John of Naugatuck. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2003, at Zion Baptist Church, 137 Pearl Street, with the Rev. Dr. S. P. Petteway officiating. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Bridgeport. Calling hours will be held at the Church from 9 a.m. until the time of service. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service and at all times at the home of her daughter Gay Lynn Mac Clean, 64 Pearl Street. Memorial donations can be made in Carol s name to a Kidney or Cancer organization of the donor s choice.
