Carlie-Inez Cook, born in 1918, spouse of Ezra Cook, daughter of Eli and Mason-Emoline-Gilmore, mother of Faye, died on November 24, 2008.
Carlie Cook slipped away quietly at her home in Crestview, Fla., surrounded by her friends on Monday, Nov. 24, 2008. Carlie was born on Dec. 31, 1918, in Bradley, Ala. After meeting and marrying her husband, Ezra Cook, they moved to Escambia Farms, Fla., where they lived and raised their family. She was also active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Carlie was preceded in death by her husband, Ezra Cook; her mother, Mason Emoline Gilmore Mathews; her father, Eli M. Mathews; grandson, Wesley Mason; great-grandson, Matthew Mason; sisters, Lucille Tew and Edna Boyette; and brother, Carlos (Sunnyman) Mathews. Carla is survived by her daughter, Faye Mason; grandson, Lamon Mason; great-granddaughters, Whitney and Jessica Mason; great-grandson, Kenny Mason; great-great-grandson, Brice Johnson; sister-in-law, Lillian Mathews; many special nieces and nephews; daughter and husband, Lamonda and David Henderson; grandsons, Steven Henderson, Jason Henderson and wife Christa; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A special thanks to the caregiver Linda Stegwa, and to Covenant Hospice, Carman, Carol, Linda, Jennifer, Pat and Barbara. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 28, at 1 p.m. at Olive Branch Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, conducted by Branch President Joseph B. Fisher. Burial will follow at Union Hill Cemetery, Escambia, Ala. A time of visitation has been set for Wednesday, Nov. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Crestview Memorial Funeral Home.
