ALTON BAY -- Carl Robert "Bob" Johnson, 76, of 138 Roger St., died Jan. 6, 2009, at Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia. He was born in Brighton, Mass., on Aug. 24, 1932, to Carl Gunnar and Ruth (Anderson) Johnson. He grew up in Stow, Mass., and lived there for many years. From 1970 to 1985, he summered in Alton Bay, where he built a summer home on Lake Winnipesaukee. In 1985, he moved permanently to Alton Bay. Mr. Johnson served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Labrador. He marched in President Eisenhower's inauguration parade. Mr. Johnson and his brother, Arnold, owned Johnson's Garage in Stow, Mass., for 25 years. He later was employed by the Laconia Water Works for 12 years. IN HIS LIFE: Survivors include his wife, Elaine (Kurtis) Johnson, of Alton Bay; a daughter, Linda M. Johnson, of Arlington, Va.; a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Ralph Banfield, of Stow; and a brother and sister-in-law, Arnold and Judith Johnson, of Stow. SERVICES: Calling hours are Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Carriage House of Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia. Memorial donations may be made to Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main St., Laconia 03246. A funeral service with military honors is Friday at noon in the chapel of the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen. Burial will follow.
